Ouali's Art
About the Artist
Abdellatif Ouali was born in Casablanca in 1962. After graduating from high school, he moved to Liège, Belgium, where he attended Art school for four years. Abdellatif remained in Belgium for almost twenty years, taking frequent trips to pursue his oeuvre in England, France, Turkey, Spain, and other European countries. In 1992, Abdellatif moved back to Morocco, where he established himself as a painter and free-lance illustrator. He presented his work at various galleries and cultural centers. In 1994, he organized an exhibition at the Ministère des Affaires Culturelles in Rabat. In 2000, he moved to New York to pursue his art and has been enjoying the city ever since.

Abdellatif
comes from a family of artists and started painting and drawing at
a very early age. He characterizes his art as “figurative,” and
his work as a “dream.” Morocco and childhood are
a frequent source of inspiration for Abdellatif. |

Aside from painting, Abdellatif likes to exert his innate curiosity for sculpture, mathematics and music. He also teaches calligraphy for the New York City Arabic Language Club.
